Officially into the second trimester Small Fry has started to make his/her residency in my body apparent. Goodbye normal clothes and hello my stretchy maternity wardrobe! It was time for a closet purge anyway.
We have been asked by several parties for news and updates. Be honest we don’t have much news to share, and that is a good thing. The monthly doctors appointments have been very quick, and so far all the test results tell us that everything looks healthy and normal for Small Fry. After being disappointed for so many months while trying to get pregnant it is great to have good news each month.
Beyond visiting the doctor we have been spending time trying to get prepared for Small Fry’s arrival. As Chris had posted, we purchased a car seat a few weeks ago. An important step not only is it the only way we will be allowed to leave the hospital with Small Fry, but we need it for our family car search. Chris can better share how that aspect of this adventure is going, but it appears that we are approaching a final decision.
Meanwhile I have been reading the reviews and information about different bottles and types of diapering. We have been looking at different highchairs and playpens. The baby registry is starting to grow, but is changing almost daily as we think about how the various items will fit into our house and lifestyle. I know I ask myself “do we really need a ________?” The limited space in the house is a critical factor in our decisions.
This is not to say that the influx of baby gear has not started. Small Fry did leave the East Coast after Easter with an impressive haul. Chris’ Grandma Brown had left us some crocheted baby blankets and clothes she made. Chris’ mom had held on to them for us just in case we ever had a baby. It is very special to have these things for Small Fry.
The guest room – soon to be nursery – is starting to fill up with baby gear so we remind anyone looking to visit Seattle, our guest room days are numbered!
